Sean's off-road run

Sean was looking for a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of London and to enjoy a weekend of running in Snowdonia. We met up on the Friday evening and I took Sean for a nice 1 1/2 hour run over Foel Goch, where we were blasted with a strong wind and driving rain. Despite this Sean loved it! This was his first proper fell run and I could see he was hooked.
During the run I assessed his ability both with dealing with terrain and his navigation skills, then afterwards we sat down over a post-run drink and I recommended a suitable run for him to do on his own the next day.
The following week I received a great email of Sean - he'd successfully done the run I'd recommended - a good 2 hours of running and 1000m ascent - then redid the run I took him on the previous day!!
"Thanks again for the run on Friday night, it was exactly what I needed, and I loved every minute... After my morning run I had everything on the menu at Stephan's Tea rooms (what a nice guy!) before putting on everything I had that was waterproof and running back on the same run we did on Friday
night. I thought Friday's weather was bad!? By the time I got to bwlch Maesgym, it was white out, horizontal rain, and even windier
than before! I still "ran" all the way to the top so I could bound down on the pillowy back of the mountain, though I couldn't see very far
ahead of me, and I took a few wrong turns and had to swing left a bit. Heading down was so easy, I wish I could have done it 1,000
times. Anyway, got back safe n' sound and soaked through.
I loved every second of it, and to be honest the weather made me feel truly alive. I was all by myself on that second mountain the
entire time, and it was so refreshing. Exactly what I needed... Thanks so much for Friday again. I'll be sure to mention you guys to everyone I see, and I will be back again soon enough."
