Patricia's training runs

Service category: Hire a private guide

Patricia and her husband were planing a holiday in North Wales and Patricia wanted to get some good training in at the same time. With a place in October's Snowdon Marathon, Patricia wanted to keep her fitness levels up during the holiday and requested some one-on-one sessions incorporating some good hill and distance runs prior to the marathon.

Patricia has done some off road running but she lacked experience and wanted some training to help her develop into the sport.

Patricia's first session was a half day guided run with significant ascent to build endurance. During the run we will worked through handling rough terrain and judging pace and techniques for handling the long ascents. At the end of the sessions we stopped in at a nice cafe then discussed the Snowdon Marathon, where we provide tips on the route and some suggested training runs to do on her own.

Pat was lucky with the weather for her week of training. We did a variety of runs including a grassy fell run, a well-paced trail run through picturesque forests, a rocky trail run in the Ogwen Valley coupled with a fartlek session on the road, then her final run was a 13 mile hilly road run on the picturesque minor roads around Llanberis.
